About Us
We are located in Lyle, WA among the beautiful Columbia River Gorge about 80 miles east of Portland, Oregon. Rolling Hills Nigerian is home to Quality Registered Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats. All of our breeding stock is registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. Our goats all come from very well known genetics and have amazing milkers in their background. We strive to breed for correct conformation and mammary systems that are competitive in the show ring and in the milk pail. We started out with Nigerians in 2012 because their small size makes them great for small acreage, easy to manage, and produce a surprising amount of milk for their size.
About Nigerian Dwarf Goats
The Nigerian Dwarf is a small breed of dairy goats. Does standing no more than 22.5 and bucks no more than 23.5 at the withers. The average weight is about 75 Lbs. Nigerians can be any color which makes breeding fun because you never know what you will get! Nigerians are primarily raised for milk, pets, and show. They produce a surprising amount of milk, the amount of milk produced depends on many factors (age, size, diet, and genetics to name a few). There milk is also high in butter fat, averaging about 6%. Nigerians originated in West Africa and were developed in the United States. We have bred them to produce an abundant amount of milk and have correct conformation which is similar to the larger dairy breeds. The price of Nigerians vary depending on quality. Breeding stock usually costs $200 - $500. Pet quality is usually much less, $50 - $100 being common.
